01Planning a Rock Night in Lisbon
Lisbon offers several different kinds of rock night: a pub, an alternative dance floor, a DIY concert or a touring show. RCA Club and República da Música are useful places to start for live rock and metal; ZDB and Disgraça also warrant a look at their programmes. The right choice depends on the event, not just the neighbourhood.
This guide separates rock-focused places from venues with broader programmes and from closed venues. The listings were reviewed using venue websites, public profiles and event information on 28 September 2026. This is desk research, not a claim of visits in person.
Check the Event Before You Travel
02A Short History
Rock Rendez-Vous, which operated from 1980 to 1990, is part of the history of live rock in Lisbon. Later venues such as Johnny Guitar, Sabotage Club and Musicbox also belong to that history; none should be used as a present-day destination at its former address.
Some venues have relocated or been replaced. Tokyo and Jamaica now use Cais do Gás addresses, while Casa Capitão offers a new destination in Beato following Musicbox’s closure. The closed venues below are kept separate from the current listings.
03Bairro Alto, Bica and Restauradores
ZDB is the concert-led choice here. The other entries explain different offers nearby, including two places that should not be mistaken for dedicated rock venues.
Galeria Zé dos Bois (ZDB)
Rua da Barroca 59, 1200-047 Lisboa · Bairro Alto
ZDB presents independent rock and experimental music within a wider arts programme.
ZDB lists spaces in Bairro Alto and Marvila.
Its autumn 2026 programme includes Poison Ruïn and Cloud Nothings. Check the location on the event listing: ZDB also programmes its ZDB 8 Marvila space at Praça David Leandro da Silva 2.
Purex
Rua das Salgadeiras 28, Lisboa · Bairro Alto
Purex is a Bairro Alto bar with DJ nights.
Treat it as a broader nightlife option. The available programme does not justify promising a rock soundtrack.
Bicaense
Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo 42A, 1200-056 Lisboa · Bica
Bicaense now advertises immersive dining and a cocktail bar.
Older descriptions of it as a rock or alternative music bar do not describe the offer on its current website. It is listed here to explain that change, rather than as a rock night recommendation.
Hard Rock Cafe Lisbon
Avenida da Liberdade 2, Lisboa · Restauradores
Hard Rock Cafe Lisbon is a rock-themed restaurant and bar near Restauradores.
It combines dining and music memorabilia with selected live and tribute events. Check the local events calendar if you want a performance rather than a restaurant visit.
04Cais do Sodré
Check both the music and the address in this area. Tokyo and Jamaica are both at Cais do Gás. Roterdão and Pensão Amor are on Rua Nova do Carvalho.
Titanic Sur Mer
Cais do Gás, Rua da Cintura do Porto de Lisboa, Lisboa · Cais do Sodré
Titanic Sur Mer hosts concerts and dance nights at Cais do Gás.
Recent promoter listings include pop and funk parties. It should not be treated as a dedicated rock room; choose the event first.
Tokyo
Cais Gás 1, 1200-109 Lisboa · Cais do Sodré
Tokyo hosts live bands as well as club nights at Cais do Gás.
The October 2026 calendar includes Asfixia Social and Cyco Lolitas, described through ska, punk, ragga and hip-hop. Choose a concert date if you want live music.
Jamaica
Cais Gás 1, 1200-109 Lisboa · Cais do Sodré
Jamaica mixes pop, rock and reggae at Cais do Gás.
It is a dance bar with a mixed soundtrack. Use the current waterfront address rather than its former Rua Nova do Carvalho location.
Pensão Amor
Rua Nova do Carvalho 38, Lisboa · Cais do Sodré
Pensão Amor combines live music, DJ sets and burlesque in a mixed programme.
The bar entrance published by the venue is Rua Nova do Carvalho 38. Its programme should be checked for the particular performance you want.
Roterdão Club
Rua Nova do Carvalho 28, 1200-292 Lisboa · Cais do Sodré
Roterdão Club mixes indie rock, soul, disco, synthpop and new wave.
Its owner publicly described financial difficulties in April 2026. The website still carries an old events calendar, so confirm the next night through the club before travelling.

B.Leza
Cais do Gás 1, Lisboa · Cais do Sodré
B.Leza focuses on African and Lusophone music while also presenting selected independent rock shows.
Its September 2026 programme included clauthewitch and Baleia Baleia Baleia. The wider calendar includes concerts, DJs and dance nights, so rock is an event-specific choice.
05Alvalade, Graça and the Independent Spaces
Alvalade has two useful concert venues for rock and metal. Around Graça, Anjos and Penha de França, cultural associations and mixed venues require closer attention to the individual bill.
RCA Club
Rua João Saraiva 18, 1700-250 Lisboa · Alvalade
RCA Club is a rock and metal concert venue in Alvalade.
The venue says it opens only on show dates. Its autumn programme includes Desolated, Ist Ist and The Vintage Caravan; check the individual listing for the start time and ticket arrangements.
Damas
Rua da Voz do Operário 60, Lisboa · Graça
Damas combines a restaurant with a concert room in Graça.
The September 2026 listings include a Rotten \ Fresh label night with experimental and noise performances. Check the current programme rather than assuming every evening is a rock show.
Casa Independente
Largo do Intendente 45, 1100-285 Lisboa · Intendente
Casa Independente is a cultural venue with a DJ programme at Largo do Intendente.
Its founders have announced that it will close at the end of 2026. It remains a current listing at this check, but confirm operation before making plans, especially for later dates.

Sirigaita
Rua dos Anjos 12F, 1170-014 Lisboa · Anjos
Sirigaita is a self-managed association in Anjos that hosts concerts and other cultural activities.
Its official newsletter of 24 September 2026 reported that it had reopened the previous week and announced another concert. Check its membership arrangements and current programme.
República da Música
Rua do Centro Cultural 29, 1700-106 Lisboa · Alvalade
República da Música books rock and metal acts within a mixed concert programme in Alvalade.
The autumn 2026 calendar includes Blood Red Shoes, Mercury Rev and Myrath. It offers another Alvalade option for a planned concert night.
Disgraça
Rua da Penha de França 217B, Lisboa · Penha de França
Disgraça is a DIY social centre with a concert room in Penha de França.
Its own calendar lists KIF, Norte Cartel and Pitbeef for 11 October 2026. This is an association and community space, so use its programme and visiting guidance when planning a night.
06Beato, Marvila and the Western Neighbourhoods
These venues are spread across different neighbourhoods. Choose the show before planning a journey between them; they are not a single walking route.
Fábrica Braço de Prata
Rua da Fábrica do Material de Guerra 1, 1950-128 Lisboa · Marvila
Fábrica Braço de Prata combines concerts, exhibitions and a restaurant in Marvila.
Its musical programme ranges beyond rock. Pick a specific concert rather than expecting a rock bar that plays the same style every night.
Casa Capitão
Rua do Grilo 119, Lisboa · Beato
Casa Capitão presents rock and independent music within a broader programme in Beato.
The Musicbox team moved its activity to this venue. Autumn 2026 bookings include Fonzie, Tempers and Strawberry Guy; Casa Capitão is a separate destination at Rua do Grilo.
Arroz Estúdios
Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, AAFC, 1900-320 Lisboa · Beato
Arroz Estúdios is a nonprofit arts association with studios and a mixed music programme in Beato.
Its programme crosses concerts, DJs and other cultural events. Check the event location and association membership arrangements directly; reports about pressure on its tenancy do not by themselves establish that it has closed.
Village Underground Lisboa
Avenida da Índia 52, 1300-299 Lisboa · Alcântara
Village Underground Lisboa includes hardcore shows within its mixed music programme.
For example, its official calendar lists Fatal Move, Outta Spite and NoPath on 9 October 2026. Other nights have different styles, so check the bill before choosing it for heavy music.
Valhalla Rock Pub
Avenida Infante Santo 356A, 1350-181 Lisboa · Estrela
Valhalla Rock Pub lists its visitor address on Avenida Infante Santo in Estrela.
The main visitor information gives number 356A. The legal notice still carries the older Ajuda address, so confirm the location with the pub before travelling.

Coliseu dos Recreios

Coliseu dos Recreios hosts rock concerts alongside other music and stage events.
This is a ticketed concert hall. Pick the artist and date first, then check the event information for doors, seating and access.
LAV – Lisboa ao Vivo
Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa, Lisboa · Marvila
LAV presents rock and metal concerts alongside other musical genres.
Its current contact page gives Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa. Use the venue directions and the individual event page; older listings use a different warehouse address.
MEO Arena
Rossio dos Olivais, Lote 2.13.01A, 1990-231 Lisboa · Parque das Nações
MEO Arena hosts large touring rock and metal shows in Parque das Nações.
Its 2026 calendar includes Evanescence, Fontaines D.C. and Amon Amarth alongside many other kinds of event. It is an arena option for a booked show, not a bar to drop into.
Lisbon Stage
Avenida Aquilino Ribeiro Machado 74, Lisboa · Parque das Nações
Lisbon Stage is a multipurpose events hall whose programme includes metal concerts.
The former Music Station now directs visitors to this name. The current site gives Avenida Aquilino Ribeiro Machado 74 and lists Suffocation for 23 October 2026.
08History: Closed Venues
These are historical entries, not places to visit for a drink or a concert at their former addresses.
Musicbox
Musicbox closed its Cais do Sodré venue in September 2025; its team went on to Casa Capitão in Beato.
Sabotage Club
Sabotage Club announced the closure of its Cais do Sodré room in 2020.
Rock Rendez-Vous
Rock Rendez-Vous operated from 1980 to 1990 in the former Cinema Universal on Rua da Beneficência.
Johnny Guitar
Johnny Guitar closed in 1996; later events using its name were revivals of its club nights.
09Practical Planning
Start with a dated event on the venue’s own website or official profile. Confirm the address, doors and performance time, ticket arrangements and any membership requirement. Do not assume that a Lisbon concert starts after midnight: RCA Club and Village Underground publish earlier evening shows.
Ask the venue directly about step-free access, seating or other access needs. Check its accepted payment methods and admission rules rather than relying on a city-wide assumption.
For a simple plan, choose one concert and a nearby bar after checking both opening schedules. Avoid building a multi-venue itinerary around old prices, last-train times or estimated walking times.
