ABOUT
Crown jewel of Finnish rock. Originally student union building (Hämäläisten talo) built in 1931, began hosting rock in 1970—one of oldest operating rock clubs in Europe. The yardstick by which success in Finnish music is measured.
SIGNIFICANCE
Epicenter of "Suomirock" wave in 70s, glam explosion of 80s, "Love Metal" phenomenon of 90s. Backstage sauna legendary among touring bands. HIM's Helldone Festival residents, hosted Hanoi Rocks in prime, Nightwish, Children of Bodom, The 69 Eyes, Apocalyptica, Hurriganes.
