Klooks Kleek
ABOUT
Klooks Kleek was a jazz and rhythm and blues club in the first-floor function room of the Railway Hotel at 100 West End Lane, West Hampstead, next to Decca's studios. Dick Jordan and Geoff Williams ran it from 1961 to 1970. The Railway is still a pub, and the rooms above it, including the old club room, were converted into offices and flats in the 2010s.
SIGNIFICANCE
John Mayall's Bluesbreakers recorded their first album live at the club in 1964, Cream played there in November 1966, and Jimi Hendrix jammed there with Mayall's band. Led Zeppelin played Klooks Kleek on 1 April 1969.
Klooks Kleek TODAY
The Railway is still a Greene King pub; Camden approved converting the upper floors, including the old club room, into offices and six flats, and the pub reopened after the work in summer 2015.
