Known as the "Grand Ole Opry West," The Palomino was the most important country venue on the West Coast. While rooted in country, by the 1980s it became a hub for Cowpunk and Rockabilly.
Key bands: The Blasters, X, Dwight Yoakam, Lone Justice, Jerry Lee Lewis. Hosted legendary secret shows by Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Elvis Costello. Red Hot Chili Peppers played chaotic 1988 show. Building now Le Monge Banquet Hall. Neon sign preserved at Valley Relics Museum.
