Opened in 1983 in a space that had been a movie theater and supermarket, L'Amour East attempted to capture the metal audience of Queens. Part of the L'Amour franchise expansion.
Hosted major thrash acts during the peak explosion: Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, King Diamond. Struggled to maintain the consistent crowd of Brooklyn and closed in 1988. Building returned to commercial roots—now D&Z Asian Supermarket (Good Fortune Supermarket).
Thrash metal. L'Amour franchise.
