SIGNIFICANCE

Austin's legendary venue from 1970-80 that fused country and rock, creating the "cosmic cowboy" movement. Willie Nelson, ZZ Top, and countless others played here. Final New Year's Eve show 31-Dec-1980; site razed. "The Armadillo served its last Lone Star on New Year's Eve 1980."
